DESCRIPTION:Bellingham Human Rights Film Festival\n \n Through an annual film festival BHRFF supports independent filmmakers\,  \n fosters dialogue and promotes action. For twelve years\, volunteer committee  \n members have selected scores of insightful and moving films they hope will  \n encourage the community to explore and engage with critical issues. Films are  \n followed by facilitated discussion\, some led by the filmmakers themselves.\n \n This year the Pickford Film Center is collaborating with the Bellingham Human  \n Rights Film Festival committee to offer a documentary human rights film each  \n month at the new Pickford Film Center theater at 1318 Bay Street in downtown  \n Bellingham.  A facilitated discussion will follow most of the films.  Each  \n 5:30 P.M. showing is free and open to everyone.  The films show on the last  \n Tuesday of the month.  The next film\, "Daisy Bates:  First Lady of Little  \n Rock"\, is about Daisy Bates\, a largely forgotten heroine of the U.S. civil  \n rights movement.  Daisy led the charge to desegregate the all-white Central  \n High School in Little Rock\, Arkansas in 1957.\n \n 2012 Festival:\n \n We have our schedule [1] set for an exciting 2012 festival! We have themes of  \n child labor\, corporate irresponsibility\, energy and the environment\, and the  \n power to act. Most films are followed by an audience discussion led by a  \n topic expert.
