As Democrats, we are dedicated to improving our community both through the choices we make at the ballot box and at home.
This election is all about turnout! We can not stress enough how important it is for Democrats to push as much as they can from this day forward. We are actively recruiting phone and literature drop volunteers.
Pints with a Purpose

The Whatcom County Young Democrats will be hosting a fundraiser on June 18th to benefit the Evergreen AIDS Foundation. This will be an opportunity to contribute to Pride month, listen to some great music, chat with other democrats, and drink some great pints with a purpose. To be held Saturday June 18 at 6:00pm. What is on your mind? The Whatcom Democrats will be holding a soapbox discussion focused on what is going on in the City of Bellingham and how this affects the rest of our county. Candidates for city positions will be on hand to give us their views and thoughts.
During the membership meeting that follows the program, we will consider endorsing Initiative 1149, which would remove state civil and criminal penalties for the cultivation, possession, transportation, sale, or use of marijuana. MORE INFO
40th LD Dems Hosts Political Author

Democratic Women’s Club Meeting

Meetings are at Round Table Pizza in the Sunset Square Shopping Center, unless otherwise noted below. Lunch is available for a reasonable cost and includes all you can eat salad bar for $4.99 or salad and a personal pizza for $7.49. First, hear from our local elected officials about pressing issues in our community and then, hop right up on the soapbox and let everyone know how you feel. We will be doing our own verbal letters to the editor, where you can speak up about local issues that concern you. As always, the Whatcom Democrats are the People's Party, and this program is all about giving the People a voice.

With the census data in and voter trends analyzed, come see a presentation on what is happening to our voters, our economy and our county at large at the next membership meeting.

Auditor Forslof to discuss re-districting

Whatcom County Auditor Shirley Forslof will explain the ins and outs of re-drawing of district lines based on the decennial census. The County is charged with re-drawing precinct and local district boundaries to balance voter numbers. A state commission will re-balance legislative districts and carve out a 10th Congressional District for Washington State.
Members will also consider for adoption 2011 State Legislative Priorities and the Whatcom Democrats' 2011 budget, including whether to hire a part-time staffperson.
Discussion and voting on all business is open to members of the Whatcom Democrats.
