Eat-In for Child Nutrition
Slow Food Eat-In: Time for Lunch
Potluck--bring picnic plates, utensils, non-alcoholic drinks, and a dish from our local harvest to share.
It’s time to provide America’s children with real food at school. Children who grow up enjoying food that is both delicious and good for them learn healthy eating habits that last throughout their lives. By giving schools the resources to serve real food, we can make sure that the legacy we’re leaving our children is a future filled with opportunity, security and good health.
That’s why Slow Food USA has organized a National Eat-In on Labor Day, September 7. On that day, people in more than 230 communities across America will gather with their neighbors for public potlucks that send a clear message to our nation’s leaders (INFO).
The recently revitalized Fourth Corner Slow Food convivium in Bellingham is sponsoring this family event. Our co-sponsor, the Whatcom County School Garden Collective arranged to hold this event at Birchwood Elementary School. They’re developing a school garden this year and that’s part of what we want to highlight for the role it plays in school nutrition.
