“Public Safety and Re-entry” - Public Forum

 The event is open to the public -- local mayors, police chiefs, and state legislators have been invited. 

Concening the elimination of the State’s 26 “Re-entry Specialist” positions who work throughout the State of Washington. These “Re-entry Specialist” positions have the job of working with and transitioning “high risk” offenders, including sex offenders, dangerous mentally ill, imminent risk offenders, and those with high medical needs back into our community from our state’s Corrections institutions.

In light of these state “community supervision” cutbacks and the loss of our local “Re-entry Specialist” from DOC, who handles the transitioning of High Risk offenders (Sex Offenders & Dangerous Mentally Ill) back to Whatcom County, a Public Forum will be held.
