It is vital to let your voice be heard on this issue before November 19th. After that it will be too late!

Background:  Due to budget shortfalls, the Board of Directors of the Whatcom Transit Authority (WTA) is considering a drastic 14% cut to existing bus services affecting all of Whatcom County.

Here are just a few examples of how this might affect you:

    • No more Sunday bus service of any kind
    • A reduction of 2/3 of the bus service to St. Joseph's Hospital and the surrounding doctors' offices every day.
    • No more commuter express service to and from Lynden and Ferndale
    • A loss of 28 living-wage, union jobs in Whatcom County

Last year WTA ridership was up a record 32%, to total an astounding 4.7 million rides. Now is not the time to eliminate and/or cut WTA service--cuts that would effectively:

    • Create further hardships on thousands of people who rely on the WTA as their primary source of transportation.
    • Increase local traffic.
    • Increase parking problems.
    • Increase pollution in the region.
