Response to Domestic Violence

Community Meeting A chance to respond to the domestic violence in the neighborhood.

This is a forum for the community to discuss the increase in domestic violence related homicides and find ways to take action to end abuse. There will be representatives from the criminal justice system, perpetrator treatment programs, and victim service agencies present to answer questions and listen to community concerns.

The forum is a response to recent domestic violence in Whatcom County, including the murder of Tawnia Costan, who was gunned down in her home in the Lettered Streets neighborhood home on Feb. 5 by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Salas. Salas later shot and killed himself.

On Jan. 6, Sean D. Wilson shot and killed 14-year-old Felicity Boonstra, who was the daughter of his girlfriend, Rebecca Boonstra. Wilson then killed himself; Rebecca was shot but survived.
