Printable Version

WHEREAS the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections once again show clearly that the United State of America is a plutocracy and not a democracy; and

WHEREAS the Jack Abramoff corruption scandal once again shows clearly that elected representatives are subject to the corrupting influence of political power generated by money and secrecy in government; and

WHEREAS the Tom DeLay led redistricting scandal in Texas once again shows clearly that elected representatives cannot always be trusted to protect democracy;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that any news reporters, publisher or broadcasters paid, in whole or in part, by political parties, their organizations or by individual government representatives, elected officials or their agents, be required to register as lobbyists and to disclose this fact at the time of the publishing or airing of their stories.
