Rep. Larsen Earns Thanks for Health Reform Vote
At the November membership meeting, Whatcom County Democrats unanimously adopted a resolution commending Congressman Rick Larsen for his Yes vote on the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) which contains a "public option" and for opposing the Stupak amendment to H.R. 3962 which imposes unconstitutional restrictions on women's rights to make their own medical decisions.

Commendation of Congressman Rick Larsen for his votes on the Affordable Health Care for America Act (HR 3962)
Whereas; in July of this year, The Whatcom County Democratic Central Committee chastised Congressman Rick Larsen for his position against the "public option" in the 2009 federal health care reform bill, and;
Whereas; Congressman Larsen has worked to include in the health care reform bill language to fix the long-standing Medicare reimbursement problems that have hurt access to health care in Washington state, and;
Whereas; Congressman Larsen opposed the anti-choice Stupak amendment (H.AMDT.509) which clearly violates a woman right to choose as well as the First and Fourth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and;
Whereas; After carefully considering the proposed legislation, Congressman Larsen voted Yes on the "Affordable Health Care for America Act" which contains a "public option,"
Therefore be it resolved that; the Whatcom County Democratic Central Committee commends Congressman Rick Larsen for voting in favor of the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) which contains a "public option" and for opposing the Stupak amendment (H.AMDT.509) which imposes unconstitutional restrictions on women's rights to make their own medical decisions.
Passed, none opposed - Nov. 19, 2009
